Texas is desperate for bilingual teachers. A bilingual certification makes you one of the most in-demand teachers in all of Texas.
Language shouldn’t be a barrier to education. Texas has seen a 50% increase in the need for bilingual teachers, with only 20% of that need being met. As a bilingual teacher, you can teach in an elementary, middle or high school, teaching students for whom English is a second language.
To be a bilingual teacher, you should earn a bachelor’s degree from a university accredited by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and pass three exams to become eligible to teach in a bilingual classroom. You will also need to complete an Educator Preparation Program.
